On Saturday mornings throughout the year, when others may be taking time to recharge and sleep-in, you can find University of Kentucky College of Dentistry dental students in their scrubs as they prepare to see patients at Saturday Morning Clinic. UKCD’s Saturday Morning Clinic offers treatment to underserved, underinsured children ages 4 to 12, aiding families who may face barriers in obtaining necessary dental care for their children.
Protecting the oral health of children is an investment that pays lifelong dividends. Unfortunately, many families in central Kentucky face access to care barriers that prevent children from receiving the treatment they need. To combat these barriers, students, faculty and staff from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry (UKCD) provide dental care to underserved children in the Lexington community via the Saturday Morning Clinic (SMC) program.
Nearly 40 University of Kentucky alumni and students will be honored during the 32nd annual Lyman T. Johnson Awards Luncheon 11 am Friday, Oct. 13, in the Gatton Student Center Grand Ballroom on UK’s campus.
