LEXINGTON, Ky. — University of Kentucky College of Dentistry alumnus Dr. Alan Jones has received the University of Kentucky Alumni Association's 2026 Distinguished Service Award, one of the association's highest honors recognizing alumni who have demonstrated sustained service to the university while making meaningful contributions to their professions and communities.
A 1988 graduate of the UK College of Dentistry, Jones is a third-generation dentist who returned to his hometown of Fulton, Kentucky, after graduation to continue the family dental practice established by his grandfather in 1908. Throughout his career, he has combined a commitment to patient care with decades of dedicated service to the University of Kentucky and his local community.
Jones has been an active member of the Fulton County UK Alumni Club since 1989 and is a lifetime member of the UK Alumni Association. Over the past 25 years, he has served the alumni club as president, vice president and a member of its executive board, helping strengthen alumni engagement and support for the university.
His leadership extends well beyond the university. Jones has served on the Fulton Independent Schools Board of Education, the Fulton County Health Board, the Twin Cities Chamber of Commerce Board, the Fulton City High School Booster Club and a local Scouting America troop committee, reflecting a longstanding commitment to improving the health and well-being of his community.
The Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals whose service has made a lasting impact on the University of Kentucky, the UK Alumni Association and the communities they serve.
