Research

Our faculty, residents, staff, and students are united by a shared commitment to advancing oral health science through the discovery, dissemination, and application of new knowledge. Through basic, clinical, and translational research, they work collaboratively to expand the scientific foundation of dentistry while integrating the latest innovations into education and patient care. This collective effort ensures that research informs evidence-based practice, enhances clinical decision-making, and ultimately improves oral and overall health outcomes for the individuals and communities we serve.

All research activities within the College of Dentistry are organized as a cohesive and collaborative enterprise under the charge of the UK Center for Oral Health Research (COHR). COHR provides strategic leadership, infrastructure, and resources to support investigators at every stage of their careers, foster interdisciplinary partnerships across the university and beyond, and promote a culture of inquiry and innovation. By supporting high-quality research, mentorship, and collaboration, COHR plays a central role in advancing the College’s mission to achieve excellence in oral health research, education, and patient care at the state, national, and international levels.
