The UK College of Dentistry (UKCD) is recognized as one of the nation’s best dental schools, with a reputation for innovation in oral health education and a commitment to serving the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Located in the suburban setting of Lexington, UKCD has a reputation for its dynamic and innovative approaches to dental education. In addition to offering a DMD program, the college offers advanced dental education programs to assist graduate dentists in expanding their knowledge to support specialty practice, research, and teaching. Total enrollment for all programs is around 315 students, allowing for a personalized learning experience.
Each year, more than 29 million Americans see a dentist but no medical provider. For these individuals, the dental chair is their first and only meaningful point of contact with the healthcare system. And yet, dentists are too often excluded from broader conversations about a patient’s overall care.
The University of Kentucky College of Dentistry will play a key role in the upcoming 2026 Land-grant Engagement Bus Tour, a university-wide initiative designed to strengthen partnerships and better understand community needs across Western Kentucky.
On February 20, first-year dental students from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry made an early impact beyond the classroom, bringing oral health education to students at Roundstone Elementary in Rockcastle County. Through hands-on activities, interactive lessons, and meaningful conversations, the outreach event aimed to promote healthy habits while inspiring the next generation to think about careers in health care.
The College of Dentistry Alumni Association will host its annual golf tournament on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the University Club of Kentucky Big Blue Course, located at 4850 Leestown Road, Lexington. Over the years, the tournament has allowed the College of Dentistry Alumni Association to provide scholarships and programs for students and alumni.

Don’t miss a fun weekend of reminiscing with fellow alumni, former and current faculty, staff, students, and friends. All College of Dentistry alumni are welcome, especially the Reunion Classes of 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006, 2011, 2016, and 2021. The Divison of Periodontology will also celebrate its 60th anniversary.
