On a perfect day for golf, a record number of 116 players participated in the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry Alumni Association Golf Tournament. Twenty-nine teams competed at the University of Kentucky Big Blue Course for best score and other honors on Saturday, August 19. The University of Kentucky College of Dentistry (UKCD) congratulates Dr. Ian Boggero on being awarded the UK Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences (CCTS) Pilot Award. The award was given to support Boggero’s study, in collaboration with the University of Cincinnati’s Dr. Christopher King, “Feasibility of Using Daily Diaries in Young Adults with Chronic Overlapping Pain Conditions.”
The American Association for Women Dentists (AAWD), a club that empowers and encourages women within the dental community, at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry (UKCD) recently hosted the Cusp of Carabelli Masquerade Ball. The event welcomed over 100 attendees consisting of students, faculty, and staff, and included a silent auction with proceeds benefiting Greenhouse 17.
The College of Dentistry congratulates Shelbi Broeking, a third-year DMD student, on being appointed to the national leadership position of Council on Communications Associate with the American Student Dental Association (ASDA). She has also previously held ASDA leadership positions at the district level and for the UKCD chapter that include design coordinator, social media chair, and social media director.

Thank you to everyone who supported the UK College of Dentistry (UKCD) on One Day for UK through participation and contributions. In total, the college received $9,840 in donations to put toward various college efforts.
The University of Kentucky held its 18th Annual Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) Spring Conference this year. Many colleges within UK also held their annual Research Day events in conjunction with CCTS’s efforts. The conference had 990 participants total and the UK College of Dentistry (UKCD) had 159 participants and 40 poster presentations. Dental Public Health has always been important to the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry (UKCD) to give back to the underserved communities of Kentucky and provide a learning experience for dental students.
Congratulations to Dr. Craig Miller on being named the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Development at the UK College of Dentistry (UKCD). Miller starts his role upon his return from sabbatical, during which time he participated in the Fulbright Specialist Program and traveled to Israel.
