On a perfect day for golf, a record number of 116 players participated in the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry Alumni Association Golf Tournament. Twenty-nine teams competed at the University of Kentucky Big Blue Course for best score and other honors on Saturday, August 19. The University of Kentucky College of Dentistry Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award for 2015 was awarded to Mark Davis, DMD. Davis, a 1967 UKCD graduate, received many nominations from classmates and peers, as well as from his daughter and fellow UKCD alum, Dr. Lea Wheeler.
Dr. Jeffrey P Okeson (UKCD '72) recently received an honorary membership in the Peruvian Academy of Somatology. His induction was highlighted in a special evening meeting of the Academy in Lima, Peru on September 10, 2015. The Peruvian Academy of Somatology is the oldest and most prestigious dental organization in Peru. The Academy extended this honor to Okeson for his significant worldwide contributions to dentistry through lectures and textbooks.
