University-wide Navigation

The University of Kentucky College of Dentistry will play a key role in the upcoming 2026 Land-grant Engagement Bus Tour, a university-wide initiative designed to strengthen partnerships and better understand community needs across Western Kentucky.

Hosted by the UK Office of Land-grant Engagement, the tour will take place May 11–14, 2026, bringing together UK administrators, faculty and staff for an experiential learning opportunity focused on healthcare access, workforce development and community innovation. The multi-day tour will include visits to several communities and programs that reflect the university’s land-grant mission of service and collaboration across the Commonwealth.

On Wednesday, May 13, the College of Dentistry will highlight its contribution in Fulton and Hickman counties through the Pathway to Dentistry program. Developed in partnership with local collaborators, this pilot initiative introduces students to careers in dental assisting, dental hygiene and dentistry while outlining the educational pathways needed to pursue those professions. The program aims to address Kentucky’s dental workforce shortage while inspiring students in rural communities to consider careers in oral health.

The College of Dentistry’s participation reflects its broader commitment to improving access to care and strengthening the oral health workforce across Kentucky. By connecting directly with communities during the bus tour, UK faculty and staff gain valuable insight into local needs while building relationships that support long-term impact.

Applications for the 2026 Land-grant Engagement Bus Tour are open through April 6, with travel, lodging and most meals sponsored by the UK Office of Land-grant Engagement.
