Thanks for Your Support on One Day for UK

Thank you to everyone who supported the UK College of Dentistry (UKCD) on One Day for UK through participation and contributions. In total, the college received $9,840 in donations to put toward various college efforts.  

UKCD Research Day 2023

The University of Kentucky held its 18th Annual Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) Spring Conference this year. Many colleges within UK also held their annual Research Day events in conjunction with CCTS’s efforts. The conference had 990 participants total and the UK College of Dentistry (UKCD) had 159 participants and 40 poster presentations.  Pictured at right: Dr. Okeson, UKCD's Dean, reviewing research posters during UKCD Research Day. 

UKCD Students create Club to give back to the Community

Dental Public Health has always been important to the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry (UKCD) to give back to the underserved communities of Kentucky and provide a learning experience for dental students. 

Miller named Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Development

Congratulations to Dr. Craig Miller on being named the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Development at the UK College of Dentistry (UKCD). Miller starts his role upon his return from sabbatical, during which time he participated in the Fulbright Specialist Program and traveled to Israel.  

DeVito named Assistant Dean for Predoctoral Clinical Affairs

Congratulations to Dr. David DeVito on being named Assistant Dean for Predoctoral Clinical Affairs of the UK College of Dentistry (UKCD).  

Nusbacher named Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs

Congratulations to Dr. Kenneth Nusbacher on being named the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs of the UK College of Dentistry (UKCD).   Speaking on Nusbacher’s appointment, UKCD Dean Dr. Jeff Okeson noted, “I have been impressed with his insights and suggestions for our future. I believe he will be very effective in this position, and I look forward to working with him in this very important position in the college.” 

May 2023 DEI Calendar

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, also known as Mental Health Month. Its aim is to raise awareness and educate the public about mental illness and reduce the stigma that surrounds mental illnesses.  More monthly observations:  Older Americans Month was established in 1963 to honor the legacies and contributions of older Americans and support them as they enter their next stage of life.  Jewish American Heritage Month recognizes the diverse contributions of the Jewish people to American culture.

March 2023 DEI Calendar

March is Women's History Month. Established in 1987, the month recognizes all women for their valuable contributions to history and society.  More monthly observations:  National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month was established to increase awareness and understanding of issues affecting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.  National Multiple Sclerosis Education and Awareness Month was established to raise public awareness of the autoimmune disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. 

UKCD Faculty/Staff Award

4/25/2023 Update: Nomination deadline extended to Monday, May 1, 2023. Dear Faculty and Staff,  I am pleased to announce the call for nominations for several UKCD awards. Recipients will be announced during this year’s college retreat in July.  Nominations for the following awards are being accepted now through Monday, April 24: Faculty Awards - Dean’s Award for Achievements in Research Dean’s Award for Achievements in Service Dean’s Award for Achievements in Teaching Staff Awards - 

One Day for UK 2023

One Day for UK, the University's annual giving day where students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends can support their favorite college, program, and cause, is taking place on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. This year, the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry (UKCD) wishes to support Saturday Morning Clinic (SMC), an effort to care for the underserved children of Kentucky.
