The UK College of Dentistry (UKCD) is recognized as one of the nation’s best dental schools, with a reputation for innovation in oral health education and a commitment to serving the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. 

Located in the suburban setting of Lexington, UKCD has a reputation for its dynamic and innovative approaches to dental education. In addition to offering a DMD program, the college offers advanced dental education programs to assist graduate dentists in expanding their knowledge to support specialty practice, research, and teaching. Total enrollment for all programs is around 315 students, allowing for a personalized learning experience.

Barrels & Kegs: Tasting + Silent Auction 2026

Mark your calendar and make plans to join the UK College of Dentistry Alumni Association for the 15th Annual Barrels & Kegs Tasting and Silent Auction. Sample bourbon, local craft beer, and enjoy delicious hors d'oeuvres. Silent auction tables will be open between 7:00-9:00 p.m. Please plan to be present to claim any items. This event is 21 and up. UKCD Alumni Association Golf Tournament

The College of Dentistry Alumni Association will host its annual golf tournament on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the University Club of Kentucky Big Blue Course, located at 4850 Leestown Road, Lexington. Over the years, the tournament has allowed the College of Dentistry Alumni Association to provide scholarships and programs for students and alumni.

Join us for the UK College of Dentistry’s Annual Fall Symposium & Alumni Weekend, Friday, October 9 - Saturday, October 9, 2025. Don’t miss a fun weekend of reminiscing with fellow alumni, former and current faculty, staff, students, and friends.  All College of Dentistry alumni are welcome, especially the Reunion Classes of 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006, 2011, 2016, and 2021.

Student Spotlight: Lillian Jones Leading with Integrity in Teaching and Service

For Lillian Jones, character is rooted in integrity—and in the willingness to slow down, think critically, and choose what is right, even when it is not easy. “In dentistry and in life,” she explains, “there are many moments when the easy choice and the right choice are not the same.” To Lillian, true character shows up when you take the time to fully understand a situation, consider different perspectives, and make decisions that benefit others, even when doing so complicates your own path.

UKCD Awarded State Funds to Expand Dental Assistant Training Program

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 10, 2025) — The University of Kentucky College of Dentistry (UKCD), in partnership with UK HealthCare, has been awarded $35,975 through the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education’s Healthcare Workforce Investment Fund (HWIF) to support full-tuition scholarships for students enrolled in the Dental Assistant/Expanded Duties Dental Assistant (EDDA) training program. The award includes a $17,987.50 match from CPE, paired with a $17,987.50 contribution from UK HealthCare.

UKCD Faculty Honored with National Award for Excellence in Clinical Research

Craig S. Miller, D.M.D., M.S., a leading clinician-scientist at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, has been awarded the American Dental Association’s (ADA) prestigious Norton M. Ross Award for Excellence in Clinical Research. Presented annually, the award recognizes individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to clinical investigations that advance the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of craniofacial, oral and dental diseases.
