Dr. Zindell Richardson has been named chair of the Department of Oral Health Science at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry. As a new faculty member, Dr. Richardson hopes to continue the college's mission of leadership in education, patient care, discovery and community engagement. "I am honored to be a part of this team, and I intend to help stretch the success this great institution has already attained," Richardson said.

The Gene P. Lewis Fellowship was created in recognition of Dr. Lewis’ many contributions to clinical care and research in Public Health and Oral-Systemic Health Disparities and his prominence as a leader and role model in the field. The goal of this fellowship is to support professional students, graduate students, pos-doctoral fellows, or junior faculty in the development of meaningful evidence that will ultimately lead to the reduction of Oral Health Disparities in the state of Kentucky. University of Kentucky Professor Jeffrey Okeson has been named dean of the College of Dentistry, pending approval by the UK Board of Trustees. Dr. Okeson has been a full-time faculty member at UK for 45 years. Serving in various leadership roles within the College of Dentistry, including chief of the Division of Orofacial Pain and director of the UK Orofacial Pain Clinic, which he founded in 1977; chair of the Department of Oral Health Science; and interim dean since September 2019.
The Hispanic Student Dental Association at the UK College of Dentistry exists to help educate the hispanic community on topics related to oral health as well as to spread understanding of the hispanic community at the college. LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 15, 2020) — Dr. Jeffrey Okeson, finalist for the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry dean position, will participate in an open forum via Zoom Webinar Tuesday, June 16, from Noon to 1 p.m. The forum is open to all faculty, staff, students and trainees in the College of Dentistry, as well as any other campus community members. The community is invited to view the candidate’s curriculum vitae on the search website. In addition, community members will also be able to provide anonymous feedback on the search website from June 15 at 8 a.m. to June 18 at 5 p.m.
I believe it is very important that we acknowledge what is occurring in our country at this time. These incidents affect many aspects of our lives. I personally was extremely distraught seeing videos that occurred in Minneapolis. It was a blatant violation of anyone and everyone’s human rights. It is difficult for me to understand how this can continue to occur in our country.
