Admissions

  • Ratio of acceptances/applicants: 1:5
  • Length of program: 12 months. An optional second year of residency is available but is not an accredited program by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. 

Admissions criteria in order of importance:

  1. DMD or DDS from an accredited U.S. or Canadian dental school
  2. Commitment to general dentistry
  3. Class rank
  4. Grade point average
  5. National Board scores
  6. An interview is required for acceptance
  7. Applicants with a dental degree outside of US or Canada may be considered on an individual basis.

Applications Should Include:

  • Completed "Universal Application for Residency" available on the University Graduate Medical Education website
  • Letter outlining interest in dentistry and interest in postgraduate program
  • Dental school and undergraduate transcripts
  • Dental class ranking
  • National Board Scores Part I must be passed successfully before applying to the program
  • National Board Scores Part II must be completed before applicant is eligible to start the program
  • 3 letters of recommendation, to include one from the Dean of your Dental School
  • Awards or distinctions, including dates
  • Research and/or teaching experience
  • List professional licenses/states in which you are licensed
  • Relevant work experience
  • Current curriculum Vitae
