The University of Kentucky is committed to advancing health and healthcare for everyone, and part of that mission is conducting health-related research.
All too often, studies are forced to end early because there are not enough participants, which means essential questions can go unanswered and treatment options remain limited. You can make a difference by being willing to participate as a volunteer in UK sponsored research.
Health research is much more than clinical trials for treatment of rare diseases. Sometimes participating is as simple as filling out a questionnaire or enabling a dental screening. You can help shape the future of healthcare by participating in research that seeks to develop new treatments and cures for a wide range of health problems.
There is no cost to participate in research studies, and financial compensation for time and travel may be provided to participants depending on the research study. Researchers will thoroughly explain the details of the study, and then you can decide if you want to participate. The choice is always yours, and you are always free to leave a study at any time.
The UK Center for Oral Health Research welcomes individuals of all ages and backgrounds to register as potential research participants.
When receiving oral health care at a UK HealthCare/UK Dentistry location, you may be asked if you are willing to participate in current or future research. We invite you to take a moment to complete the minimal paperwork indicating your willingness to participate, and allowing researchers to contact you should you match their study’s requirements. You will never be obligated to participate in a study. Participation is voluntary, and your care will not be impacted in any way should you choose not to participate in research.
Additionally, you may register online at ResearchMatch to be considered for future UK Center for Oral Health Research projects. ResearchMatch is an easy-to-use, secure research participant registry helping to match volunteers with researchers.
