The College of Dentistry wishes to renew participation in the Wethington Award Program beginning in the current fiscal year. The purpose of this program is to encourage faculty to pursue extramurally funded research and thus contribute to the University of Kentucky’s goal to be a nationally prominent research institution.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be a full-time Regular, Special, Clinical or Research Title faculty member employed full-time in the College of Dentistry below the level of Dean, who has received extramural funding as an Investigator or Co-Investigator.
- The faculty member must have salary support through direct charging of the externally funded award (excludes cost share, in-kind, matching, etc).
- Salary support from internally funded projects (for example College of Dentistry or other University of Kentucky departments or units) is excluded.
- Faculty effort on projects must be consistent with project goals.
Calculation and payment of Wethington Awards:
- The Wethington Award payment for Regular, Special and Clinical Faculty will be 20% of the applicable salary savings total.
- The Wethington Award payment for Research Faculty will be 20% of the applicable salary savings total in excess of an 80% annual threshold.
- Faculty must be employed by UK at the time of the Wethington distribution on May 31, 2019.
- Total Wethington Award per year may not exceed $30,000.
In the event of over-expenditure of a grant, the Wethington Award may have to be adjusted. This is effective starting this current fiscal year. Recipients for this year will be notified in the coming weeks.
