The University of Kentucky College of Dentistry is pleased to welcome Dr. David DeVito to the Division of Oral Diagnosis, Oral Medicine, and Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Dr. DeVito joined the college as an assistant professor in September.
In addition to teaching, Dr. DeVito will serve as co-director of the new Diagnosis and Wellness Clinic slated to open in January 2018. He will also provide general dentistry services in the faculty practice clinic.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to do something unique that integrates interprofessional treatment with a patient-centered focus on improving both their oral and overall health. This is the first clinic of its kind and I’m very excited to be a part of it," shares DeVito.
Dr. DeVito was born in Winter Haven, Florida and attended the University of Florida for his undergraduate and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering. Following graduate school, he held a post-doctoral associate position in the Division of Nuclear and Radiological Detection at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He also taught undergraduate chemistry courses at Pellissippi State Community College in Tennessee and Eastern Kentucky University before earning his DMD from the University of Kentucky. He has worked in corporate dentistry for the past few years before returning to UK.
