The UK College of Dentistry (UKCD) Office of Continuing Education is pleased to announce that Meagan Castro, Staff Support Assistant, has been appointed as secretary on the Association for Continuing Dental Education (ACDE) Board of Directors. In this role, Castro will have several key responsibilities, including promoting the ACDE among dental professionals, educators, and providers, preparing for the ACDE annual meeting, and developing and distributing communications regarding meetings and events to members. She will serve a five-year term, during which she will progress from the role of ACDE Secretary to ACDE Immediate Past-President. 

“I am truly grateful and excited for the opportunity to serve on the ACDE board. This awesome association brings together individuals from dental education programs across the US and Canada, and it’s like a big family of dental educators and professionals working together to make dentistry better. I hope that over the next five years, I’m able to bring the values, spirit, and excellence of the University of Kentucky to the organization, and I think that with the unique strengths and talents of each participating school, I believe we can collaborate and do great things together,” shared Castro about her appointment. 

Dr. Wesley Coffman, UKCD Director of Continuing Education, commented, “Meagan has been an invaluable member of our continuing education team. She is our go-to person for all technological things and has also been assisting ACDE with their technology issues. She will be a great asset to ACDE, and she is the ultimate team player." 

The ACDE brings together individuals representing college- and university-based continuing dental education programs associated with accredited Dental Schools in Canada and the United States, including Puerto Rico. Its mission is to create opportunities for leadership, collaboration, and development for university-based continuing dental education professionals, and to promote the highest quality of continuing dental education.
