The Osteo Science Foundation (OFS) has selected Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residents Drs. Diego Hurtado and Brent Newby for participation in its prestigious Clinical Observership Program. This highly selective apprenticeship offers intensive, individualized training with leading practitioners in the field of oral, cranial, and maxillofacial surgery.
Dr. Diego Hurtado will travel to Miami in February 2018 to complete his observership under the guidance of Dr. Anthony Sclar.
Dr. Sclar is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Dentistry who has completed residencies in anesthesiology as well as oral and maxillofacial surgery. Throughout his career, he has performed more than 20,000 successful dental implant procedures at his private practice. Dr. Sclar is currently an adjunct professor at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine where he also serves as director of clinical research and dental implant surgery. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and founder of the Sclar Center for Empowered Dental Implant Learning.
In April 2018, Dr. Brent Newby will travel to San Francisco to complete his observership with mentor Dr. Edmond Bedrossian.
Dr. Bedrossian completed his DDS at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry and went on to complete his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at the Alameda County Medical Center (now Alameda Health System). In addition to managing his own private practice, Dr. Bedrossian serves as director of the surgical implant training program for both the OMFS residents at Highland Hospital and the undergraduate DDS and IDS (International Dental Studies) students at his alma mater. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and has obtained fellowship in various national and international professional organizations.
