Educators at the University of Kentucky care about their students' success. At the UK College of Dentistry, that means helping prepare our future dentists to deliver leading edge, patient-centered care.
Six University of Kentucky educators, including UKCD’s Dr. Gitanjali Pinto-Sinai, have been named a 2017 Great Teacher by the University of Kentucky Alumni Association. Dr. Pinto-Sinai, assistant professor in Restorative Dentistry, will be honored with her fellow award recipients, at the UK Alumni Association Great Teacher Award Recognition Dinner February 28, 2017.
The Great Teacher Award, started in 1961, is the longest-running University of Kentucky award recognizing teaching. In order to receive the award, educators must first be nominated by a student. The UK Alumni Association Great Teacher Award Committee, in cooperation with the student organization Omicron Delta Kappa, then makes the final selections.
In addition to the recognition dinner, recipients receive an engraved plaque and monetary reward and are honored at center court on the floor of Rupp Arena.
Previously UKCD faculty receiving the award include: Drs. Douglas D. Damm, Charles W. Ellinger, Don Falace, David R. Gore, Jim Haubenreich, E. Preston Hicks, John T. Kemper, Thomas A. McConnell, John R. Mink, and Jeffrey P. Okeson.
