In September, Dr. Rick Windhorn, assistant dean for Digital Dentistry at the UK College of Dentistry (UKCD), traveled to Seoul, South Korea, to speak at the 618th Dental Company Dental Operational Training. The annual event focuses on continuing education for dental professionals across the Asia-Pacific region, bringing distinguished lecturers to present on a variety of dental topics.

Event attendees representing the US Army, Air Force, and Navy listened to Windhorn, a board-certified prosthodontist and Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists (ACP), share information on various topics related to prosthodontics (an area of dentistry focused on the design, manufacture, and fitting of artificial replacements for teeth and other parts of the mouth).

Windhorn’s presentations included review of proper dual-arch impression technique, moisture control for making crown and bridge impressions, treatment planning in prosthodontics, and suggestions for correctly performing other techniques related to prosthodontics.

“I was honored when asked by a former prosthodontic resident of mine to speak at the Army’s annual Korea dental conference. It gave me the opportunity to enlighten the attendees about positive changes we are making at UKCD. It was also a chance to catch up with old friends and to promote the College of Dentistry to the senior leadership of the Army Dental Corps.”
