UK DentistryThis summer, the third floor DMD Student Clinic underwent a complete transformation. Patients will now experience leading-edge care in a facility outfitted with updated operatories, upgraded computer systems, and even a milling room and digital design center.

August 14 marks the official reopening of the third floor DMD Student Clinic in the Dental Science Building on UK’s campus. University of Kentucky President Eli Capilouto, Provost Tim Tracy, and dean of the UK College of Dentistry Dr. Stephanos Kyrkanides addressed UKCD faculty, staff, and supporters at a ribbon cutting ceremony.

In just 12 weeks, renovations have produced a clinical space with updated technology and aesthetics to match. Patients being seen in the DMD Student Clinic will notice updated LED lighting that is not only more energy efficient, but keeps clinic space cooler as well. Old chair lights have been switched out to cabinet mount orange LEDs. Each chair has been outfitted with two monitors, intraoral cameras, and x-ray tubes. Additionally, the third floor now boasts a new milling room and digital design center.

Aesthetic updates to the space include new cabinetry, flooring, ceiling tiles, window shades, and paint. Custom designed cabinetry added to the front and back of clinic space ties together a seamless and clutter-free space. Patient waiting areas and restrooms have been renovated as well.
