University of Kentucky College of Dentistry faculty, Drs. Luciana Shaddox and Nikki Stone will be presenting at the Kentucky Rural Telehealth Summit on September 28, 2023. The event, presented by the University of Kentucky Center of Excellence in Rural Health, will be held at the Embassy Suites on Newtown Pike in Lexington, Kentucky, from 8 am –4:30 pm.  

Shaddox and Stone will be joined by Dr. Julie McKee, the State Dental Director at the Kentucky Department for Public Health, for their session titled, Teledentistry in Kentucky from the West to the East and Future Possibilities for Everywhere In-Between. Their session will discuss a current piloted teledentistry program, plans for a second, and the benefits of increasing teledentistry efforts across the state to improve access to care.  

The summit includes various panels, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities that discuss state and federal resources, funding opportunities, the current and future state of telehealth, and more. At the end of the day, there will be a drawing for door prizes, which include two, one-week vacations in Orlando, Florida.
