• Dr. Cynthia S. Beeman is an Associate Professor of Orthodontics and is co-director of this course. Dr. Beeman currently is the Director of Predoctoral Program Orthodontics and served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry from January 1, 2011 to July 31, 2014. She previously served as Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs and as the Director the Orthodontics Graduate Program.
• Dr. Beeman earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount Holyoke College, her D.D.S. from Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry, and her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences and Clinical Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Connecticut Health Center. She began her academic career at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 1989 and served as Director of Orthodontics Graduate Program Research until 2007. She teaches doctoral and postgraduate orthodontics, and also enjoys mentoring undergraduate pre-dental student research. She has served on 37 Master of Science thesis committees of graduate students in Orthodontics and Periodontics, and on several Ph.D. committees across campus. In addition to conducting research, teaching and providing oversight to the College's academic program, Dr. Beeman provides clinical orthodontic care to patients in the faculty intramural practice.
• Dr. Beeman was appointed as an Associate Member of the Graduate Faculty in 1990, and became a Full Member in 1996. She is a member of the American Dental Association, American Dental Education Association, the American/International Association for Dental Research, the American Association of Orthodontists and The Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists. She is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists and completed a Fellowship in the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine Program in 2007-2008. Dr. Beeman has published in dental, orthodontic, education and research journals and presents at regional, national and international meetings.
