My current emphasis is to refine the current diagnostic paradigm for periodontal disease in T2DM by proposing that the multiplex information contained within a “data-driven biosignature” will offer a significant improvement in personalized patient management. Also, determining the relationship of periapical infection and systemic infection.
Craig S. Miller, DMD, MS, Professor of Oral Medicine, College of Dentistry and Professor of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics, College of Medicine, is the director of the Externship in Oral Medicine Program at the College of Dentistry. He is board certified in Oral Medicine and board eligible in oral and maxillofacial radiology, with 33 years experience in the diagnosis and management of medically compromised patients. Dr. Miller is the Editor of the Oral Medicine Section of the journal Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology and has authored more than 200 publications and co-authored four internationally recognized textbooks: the Color Atlas of Common Oral Diseases; Oral Diagnosis, Oral Medicine and Treatment Planning; Dental Management of the Medically Compromised Patient; and Exercises in Dental Radiology. He has been an oral medicine consultant to the VA Lexington, KY, for 25 years.
