Bien-Air USA, Inc. Provides State-of-Art Equipment to UK College of Dentistry

UK College of Dentistry students are able to keep pace with advancements in the training and treatment of patients due to an unprecedented donation from the dental equipment company, Bien-Air USA, Inc.

Bien-Air USA donated and installed 269 new electric handpiece systems, in addition to other sample equipment and supplies, for use in clinics, mobile dental vans and UKCD’s simulation laboratory. The in-kind donation, valued at over one million dollars, allows UKCD to join a small group of dental schools in the nation that have the capability to utilize electric handpiece systems.

“This very generous donation from Bien Air allows us to move forward with the newest technology in dental handpieces-electric handpieces-which eliminate that need for costly compression systems. We are extremely grateful to them for helping us move to the next level with regard to handpiece technology,” said UKCD Dean Sharon Turner.

Electric handpiece systems offer a number of important improvements compared to their compressed air-drive predecessors. The ultra-modern dental tools offer increased power and better speed control, making dentists’ work simpler and faster. Patients experience significantly less noise and vibration during their treatment.

“This avant-garde technology offers exceptional ergonomics and unmatched performance,” said Arthur Mateen, general manager of Bien-Air USA. “We are proud to partner with the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in providing the latest equipment for the training of future dentists.”
